Species Calocalanus elegans - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : J. Corral Estrada in Tesis Doct., Univ. Madrid, A-129, Sec. Biologicas, 1970. [Lam.33, figs.1-2].
Female (from Canarias Is.): 1, habitus (lateral left side); 2, posterior segments of cephalothorax and urosome (lateral left side).

Species Calocalanus elegans - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : J. Corral Estrada in Tesis Doct., Univ. Madrid, A-129, Sec. Biologicas, 1970. [Lam.32, figs.5-12].
Female: 5, habitus (dorsal); 6, distal segments of A1; 7, urosome (dorsal); 8, P1; 9, P2; 10, P3; 11, P4; 12, P5.

Species Calocalanus elegans - Plate 3 of morphological figuresissued from A.A. Shmeleva in Zool. Zh., 1967, 46 (8). [p.1176, Fig.2].
Female (from Ionian Sea): 1, habitus (dorsal); 2, urosome (dorsal); 3, rostrum (lateral); 4-8, P1 to P5.
Nota: Head and 1st pedigerous somite fused, 4th and 5th separated. Rostrum slender, bifurcated. Urosome 3-segmented, genital somite large and noticeably convex in ventral view, anal somite 3 times as long as the preceeding one. Caudal rami short, almost square, each ramus with 2 large inner setae and 2 finer and shorter marginal ones. P5 symmetrical with large basipod and 2 short segments, the latter of which is armed with a very long and fine apical seta.

Male: 9, habitus (dorsal); 10, urosome (dorsal); 11, rostrum (lateral); 12-16, P1 to P5.
Nota: Head and 1st pedigerous somite fused. Rostrum small, bifurcated. Urosome 4-segmented. Genital segment not large, its length equaling the two following segments taken together. Anal segment 1.3 times as long as wide. Caudal rami slightly asymmetrical, bearing similar setae as in the female, their length beeing 1.5 times more than the width; as distinguished from the female, on the inner side of the caudal rami of the male there are small curved setae. P5 strongly asymmetrical, the left leg beeing longer and wider, and bearing 4 segments instead of 3 on the right one; besides, the border between 3rd and 4th segments of the left leg is not distinct, and the 3rd segment of the right leg is very small; each leg armed with 1 small apical spinule.
