Cymbasoma tropicum  (Wolfenden, 1905)   (F,M)
Syn.: Thaumaleus tropicus Wolfenden, 1905 (1906) (p.1025, figs.F); Cymbasoma nicobarica Sewell, 1949 (p.142, figs.M); Silas, 1972 (p.639); Cymbasoma tropica : Martin Thompson & Easterson, 1983 (p.176, figs.F,M, Rem.)
Ref.:

Species Cymbasoma tropicum - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : R.B.S. Sewell in The John Murray Expedition, 1933-34, Scientific Reports, IX (2), 1949. [p.143, Fig.40 A-D]. As Cymbasoma nicobarica.
Male (Nankauri Harbour, Nicobar Is.): A, habitus (dorsal); B, urosome (ventral); C, A1; D, exopod of P4.
Nota: Anterior border of the head rounded, with a pair of minute hairs or projections spring from the surface between the origins of A1. A pair of well-developed and deeply pigmented eyes. Genital segment oval in shape. Caudal rami widely divergent, each bears 4 setae, of which 3 arise from the distal end, while the 4th arises from a low rounded swemming on the posterior and inner margin, directed backwards. A1 about one-third of the body-length, 5-segmented (the line of separation of the 2nd and 3rd segments apparently incomplete; proportional lengths of the various segments as 15:22:12:26:25 = 100; there is a distinct hinge-joint between the 4th and 5th segments.

Rem.: in surface tow-net.
According to Sewell (1949, p.144) it is possible that this is the unknown male of Wolfenden's species Cymbasoma tropicus, but it is impssible to reach any conclusion on this point.
