According to Vives & Shmeleva (2007) this species is valid, the difference with A. margalefi leans upon the form of the genital segment of the female and the first segment of the male P5. This position was not followed by Bradford-Grieve (1999, p.4) who did not have knowledge of the publication of Alcaraz from the same year.
