Bradfod-Grieve (1994) ne suit pas Fukase (1957, p.20) qui considère la forme décrite par Mori (1937) comme synonyme de Eucalanus subtenuis japonica.
Le mâle adulte de cette espèce ne semble pas avoir été décrit (les figures 193 et 195 données par Owre & Foyo semblent reprises de Mori)
