Gaudy (1963, p.26) conteste la synonymie de H. profundus avec cette espèce d'après Sars (1925, p.226).
Park (2000, p.140) ne retient pas dans les distributions géographiques les localisations en Atlantique tropical et l'Indien S.
Les localisations indiquées par Wilson (1950) ne sont pas retenues dans la distribution de l’espèce.
