Syn.: Calanopia elliptica : Wilson, 1942 (p.142, Rem.: Caribbean forms)
Ref.:
Bowman, 1957 (p.40, figs.F,M)
Species Calanopia biloba - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : T.E. Bowman in Proc. U.S. Nat. Mus., 1957, 107 (3382). [p.41, Fig.1].
Female (from Caribbean Sea): a, habitus (lateral left side); b, last metasomal segment and urosome (lateral left side); c, idem (dorsal); d, forehead (lateral).

Male: e, last measomal segment and urosome (dorsal); f, 2nd urosomal segment (dorsal); g, idem (lateral right side).

Scales in mm: same b, c, e; same for d, f, g.

Species Calanopia biloba - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : T.E. Bowman in Proc. U.S. Nat. Mus., 1957, 107 (3382). [p.42, Fig.2].
Female: b, A1; c, A2; d, Md (with detail of gnathal lobe); e, Mx2; f, Mxp; g, Mx1.
Nota: A1 17-segmented, reaching back to about the middle of genital segment.

Male: right A1.
Nota: A1 reaching back to middle of 2nd urosomal segment.

Scales in mm: same for a, b, e; same for c, f; same for d (detail), g.

Species Calanopia biloba - Plate 3 of morphological figuresissued from : T.E. Bowman in Proc. U.S. Nat. Mus., 1957, 107 (3382). [p.43, Fig.3].
Female: d, P2; e, P4; f, P1.

Male: a, P5 (posterior surface); b, distal segments of right P5 (anterior surface); c, distal segment of left P5.

Scales in mm: same for a, b, c, g, h, i; same for d, e, f.

Species Calanopia biloba - Plate 4 of morphological figuresCalanopia biloba.
Female:
1 - P5 exopod 2-segmented.
2 - Cephalic lateral hooks absent.
3 - P5 symmetrical.
4 - Caudal rami symmetrical.
5 - 2nd exopodal segment of P5 longer than first one.
6 - 1st exopodal segment of P5 with 2 spines distally.
7 - Genital compound somite without ventral spines as in C. media.
Male:
1 - Left P5 shorter than right one; basis of left P5 not swollen proximally.
2 - Prosomal posterolateral corner symmetrical.
3 - Cephalic lateral hooks absent.
4 - 2nd urosomite asymmetrical with 2 processes on right side.
5 - 2nd urosomite with 2 processes postero-laterally on right side; P5 left leg relatively short not reaching distal end of 1st exopodal segment of right leg.

Distribution map of Calanopia biloba by geographical zones
Loc:
Atlant. (Caribbean), Medit. (Lebanon Basin: Fethiye-Iskenderum Bays in Uysal & al., 2002)
N: 4
Lg.:
(256) F: 1,67-1,65; M: 1,55-1,45; {F: 1,65-1,67; M: 1,45-1,55}
Rem.: Surface plankton.
For Bowman (1957, p.44) the closest affinities of C. biloba are with its Indo-Pacific relative C. elliptica. The only species which might be expected to accur in company with C. biloba is C. americana.
