Rem.: Associated with Sargassum beds.
For Ohtsuka & al. (p.564) the male discribed as Pontella surrecta by C.B. Wilson (1950) should be referred to P. elephas (= Ivellopsis elephas), after examination of the type specimens.
After Mulyadi (2011, p.1532-1533) the Scott's (1909) male as Pontella forficula (p.162, Plate LIII) from the Sulu Sea must be considered as the male of Ivellopsis elephas (Brady, 1883), and therefore Scott's (1909) species name has become unvalid.
