Female characters (from key, p.959):
- urosome (dorsal).
- Head without lateral hooks.
- Forehead without crest, rounded in dorsal view.
- Posterior corners of last thoracic segment produced into long points, with out posterior lobes.
- Exopod terminal segment of P5 with bifurcate tip.
- Genital segment with wide, rounded projection.

Male characters (from key, p.959) :
- P5 (B = basis; l = leff leg, r = right leg).
- Basis of left P5 with broadly-based, triangular, inner distal process which extends just beyond distal border of exopodal segment 1.

Diagnosis for L. kuwaitiana in the 'darwinii' species group after Prusova & Al-Yamani (2014, p.1165) :
Females:
- 1: Urosome of 2 somites.
- 2: Genital somite asymmetrical, with wide rounded projection on right in dorsal view.
Males:
- 1: Urosome of 4 somites.
- 2: Left P5 endopod extends to or slightly beyond distal border of exopodal segment 1.
- 3: Right A1 segment's XXI-XXIII toothed process extends just beyond proximal margin of segment XXIV.
