Rem.: mesopelagic. Overall Depth Range in Sargasso Sea: 0-500 m (Deevey & Brooks, 1977, Station "S");
This species is hard to distinguish from P. regalis.
If the identification from the Bermudas is correct, this species could have been isolated at the time of the closure of the Isthmus of Panama.
