Suarez Morales in Crustaceana, 1993, 64 (1). [p86, Fig.1]. As Thaumaleus boxshalli. Female (from Bahia de Ascension, Yucatan): a-b, habitus (lateral and dorsal, respectively). Scale bar in mm. Nota: head and 1st pedigerous segment fused, about 0.60 of total body length. Oral papilla located 0.15 of way back along cephalothorax. Eyes present, well developed, ocelli intensely pigmented, semitriangular in dorsal view. Urosome consisting of the 5th pedigerous somite, the genital somite, and 1 free abdominal somite. Absence of a dorsal suture on the genital somite.

Nota: A1 4-segmented; ratio of lengths of segments: 12.5: 27.5:1307:46.3 = 100. P5 fused medially. Absence of an inner ramus in P5 (only a small inner protuberance with a 1 short, plumose seta. Caudal rami 1.65 times longer than wide, each ramus bearing 3 setae.
