Byrathis laurenae  Markhaseva & Ferrari, 2005
Ref.:
Markhaseva & Ferrari, 2005 a (p.139, Descr.F, figs.F, tab.2, Rem.)
Species Byrathis laurenae - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : E.L. Markhaseva & F.D. Ferrari in Invert. Zool., 2005, 2 (2). [p.140, Fig.16].
Female (from 9°50'N, 104°17'W): A, posterior prosome and urosome (lateral, left side); B, posterior prosome (dorsal); C, anterior cephalosome (lateral); D, forehead (dorsal); E, urosome (dorsal); F, A2 (5 segments of exopod); G, P1 (anterior); H, right P5 (posterior).
Scale bars: 0.1 mm.

Nota : Prosome 3.8 times longer than urosome. Cephalosome and pediger 1 fused, 4th and 5th fused dorsally, separate laterally. Postrior corners of prosome produced into short, rounded lobes in lateral view. Genital complex slifgtly asymmetrical in dorsal view, in lateral view with bump at midlength ; with small spinules dorsally and laterally. Rostrum with 2 thin short filaments. A1 24-segmented. P5 3-segmented ; proximal and middle segments (coxa and basis) with denticles ; distal segment (exopod) with 1 short, lateral, 1 terminal and 1 medial setae and 1 long terminal attenuation, with posterior denticles. P1 coxa without seta ; basis with medial seta ; exopod 3-segmented, proximal with 1 lateral seta, middle with 1 medial and 1 lateral seta, distal segment short with 3 medial, 1 terminal, 1 lateral seta ; endopod elongate ; Von vaupel Klein’s organ with basal seta uncurved, anterior knob poorly developed with denticles along lateral edge distal to anterior knob.

Species Byrathis laurenae - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : E.L. Markhaseva & F.D. Ferrari in Invert. Zool., 2005, 2 (2). [p.141, Fig.17].
Female: A, Md (mandibular palp); B, Mx2 (sclerotized setae of endites not drawn); C, Mxp (syncoxa).
Scale bar: 0.1 mm.

Nota : proximal praecoxal endite with 4 setae ; distal with 3 setae, 1 thicker ; proximal coxal endite with 3 setae, 1 thicker, distal with 3 setae, 1 thicker ; proximal basal endite with 4 setae, 1 thicker, 1 worm-like and 3 brush-like sensory setae, 1 brush-like seta thicker and with longer setules.

Species Byrathis laurenae - Plate 3 of morphological figuresissued from : E.L. Markhaseva & F.D. Ferrari in Invert. Zool., 2005, 2 (2). [p.137, Table 2].
Byrathis laurenae (Selected character states of species included in Byrathis gen. n.).
Ce = cephalosome; Mn = mandible; Pd = pediger segment; Ri = endopod; Re = exopod

Species Byrathis laurenae - Plate 4 of morphological figuresissued from : E.L. Markhaseva & F.D. Ferrari in Invert. Zool., 2005, 2 (2). [p.138, Table 2 (contituing)].
Byrathis laurenae (Selected character states of species included in Byrathis gen. n.).
Ri = endopod; Re = exopod.

Distribution map of Byrathis laurenae by geographical zones
Loc:
E Pacific (tropical Rise)
N: 1
Lg.:
(954) F: 0,87; {F: 0,87}
Rem.: hyperbenthic (depth: about 2500 m).
For Markhaseva & Ferrari (2005, p.139) this species can be distinguished frm B. volcani by the asymmetrical genital complex (symmetrical in B. volcani) ; 7-segmented exopod of A2 (8-segmented in B. volcani, elongate segment with 4 setae (3 setae in B. volcani) ; 3 setae on basis of Md (2 setae in B. volcani) ; Endopod of P1 with Von Vaupel Klei’s organ with denticles distal to anterior knob (without distal denticles on B. volcani)
