Female (from W Canary Is.): l, habitus (dorsal); m, forehead (lateral); n, urosome (lateral right side); o, A2; p, Md (mandibular palp); q, md (citting edge).
Nota: Head and 1st thoracic segment separate, 4th and 5th fused.Geniatal segment twice the length of succeeding 2 segments combined, protruded ventrally. A1 exceeds furca by last 2 segments.

Female: a, Mx1; b, Mx2; c, Mxp; d, P5.
Nota: Mx1 with 1 seta on 2nd and 3rd lobes, 4 setae on basal segment, 3 setae on endopod, 8 setae on exopod.

Rem.: meso-bathypelagic. Recorded in a vertical haul from 1000 to 500 m (Matthews, 1972). In vertical tow 4000-3000 m (Harding, 1974).
The species resembles E. maxillaris Sars (1924), but is easily distinguished from it.
