Heteroptilus acutilobus  (Sars, 1905)   (F,M)
Syn.: Pontoptilus acutilobus Sars,1905 c (p.21, Rem.F)
Ref.:
Sars, 1925 (p.326, figs.F); Farran, 1926 (p.290); Rose, 1933 a (p.237, figs.F,M); Sewell, 1947 (p.239, Redescr.F, figs.F); Owre & Foyo, 1967 (p.90, figs.F,M); Vives & Shmeleva, 2007 (p.258, figs.F,M, Rem.)
Species Heteroptilus acutilobus - Plate 1 of morphological figuresIssued from : G.O. Sars in Résult. Camp. Scient. Prince Albert I, 69, pls.1-127 (1924). [Pl.CXVII, figs.1-15].
Female: 1, habitus (dorsal); 2, idem (lateral left side); 3, forehead (lateral); 4, rostral prominence; 5, A2; 6, right Md; 7, Md (masticatory edge of the two mandible); 8, Mx1; 9, Mx2; 10, Mxp; 11, P1; 12, P3; 13, P5.

Male: 14, distal portion of left A1; 15, P5.

Species Heteroptilus acutilobus - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : R.B.S. Sewell in The John Murray Expedition, 1933-34, Scientific Reports, VIII (1), 1947. [p.242, Fig.66].
Female (from G. of Aden): A, A2; B, right Md; C, Mx1; D, Mx2; E, Mxp; F, P1; G, P3; H, P5.
Nota: The proportional lengths of the cephalothorax and abdomen as 73 to 27. The proportional lengths of the various segments of the body (cephalon to caudal rami) as 391:111:74:74:85:96:44:33:18:74 = 1000. Head and 1 st pediger segment separate, 4th and 5th fused. Forehead rounded, and ventrally is produced in a downwardly directed curved prominence, the margin of which is irregularly crenated, no rostral filaments. Caudal rami are long, about twice as long as broad. A1 25-segmented, reaches to the tip of the caudal rami. In A2 the exopod is considerably longer than the endopod in the proportion of 54 to 46; exopod 8-segmented. The Md of the two sides differ; on the right side a long curved tooth projects forward the anterior margin; the 2nd basal segment bears 1 long seta on the inner margin. Mx1 agrees with Sars, and the 2nd outer lobe bears a moderately stout seta.
