Paraeuchaeta brevirostris  Brodsky, 1950   (F,M)
Syn.: Pareuchaeta brevirostris Brodsky, 1950 (1967) (p.216, figs.F,M); Minoda, 1971 (p.27); Heptner, 1971 (p.92, figs.F,M);

Species Paraeuchaeta brevirostris - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : T. Park in Bull. Scripps Inst. Oceanogr. Univ. California, San Diego, 1995, 29. [p.154, Fig.44].
Female: a, forehead (left side); b, urosome (left); c, d, genital somite (left, right, respectively); e, outer lobe of Mx1; f, P1 (anterior); g, P2 (anterior).
Nota: Similar in habitus including forehead and urosome to P. propinqua but distinguishable from it.
Laterally, genital somite with a deep-length ratio of 100:120. Genital flange relatively lowx; its ventral margin emarginate and sloping in a posteroventral direction. Posterior edge of genital field produced into a conspicuous lobe some distance from genital flange. Posterior margin of genital prominence sloping about 60° with respect to long body axis and curving to posterior ventral wall of somite, which is about as long as sloping posterior margin of prominence. Small low ridges found close to anterior base of prominence on each side of genital somite.
Cephalosomal appendages similar to those of P. malayensis and P. propinqua except that 2 proximal setae of outer lobe of Mx1 very small.

Male: h, forehead (left); i, P1 (anterior); j, P2 (anterior); k, distal exopodal segmets of left 5th leg (lateral, tilted clockwise); l, idem (medial, titled clockwise); m, serrated lamella of left 5th leg exopod (lateral, tilted clockwise).

Species Paraeuchaeta brevirostris - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : O. Tanaka & M. Omori in Publs Seto Mar. Biol. Lab., 1968, XVI (4). [p.240, Fig.12]. As Pareuchaeta laudabilis.
Female: A, genital somite (part.) (lateral left side); B, genital complex (ventral); C, biting edge of Md; D, endopod and 2nd basal segment of Mx1; E, outer lobe of Mx1; F, exopod of P1; G, P2.

Nota: The urosome segments and furca are in the proportional lengths as 44:21:17:3:15 = 100.
Prosome and urosome are in the proportional lengths as 72 to 28.
Mx1: outer lobe with 7 long and 2 short setae; endopod with 3+3+3 setae; 2nd basal segment with 5 setae; exopod with 11 setae; 1st inner lobe with 13 setae; 2nd and 3rd inner lobes with each 1 seta.

Species Paraeuchaeta brevirostris - Plate 3 of morphological figuresIssued from : K.A. Brodskii in Calanoida of the Far Eastern Seas and Polar Basin of the USSR. Opred. Fauna SSSR, 1950, 35 (Israel Program for Scientific Translations, Jerusalem, 1967) [p.216, Fig.129]. As Pareuchaeta brevirostris.
Female (from NW Pacif.): habitus (lateral right side); forehead (lateral); S2, exopod of P2; urosome (dorsal and lateral right side); genital segment ( lateral left side); Gf, complex genital (ventral).

Male: S5Le, distal segments of left P5.

Species Paraeuchaeta brevirostris - Plate 4 of morphological figuresissued from : M.V. Heptner in Trudy. Inst. Okeanol., 1971, 92. [p.93, Fig.9]. As Pareuchaeta brevirostris.
Female (from Kuril kamchatka Trench).
Formula of the exopod of P1 spines on the last two segments, successively: Aa < AB (Aa ≈ 1/6 AB); Bb < BC (Bb ≈ 9/10 BC); Cc ≈ BC). P2: Aa < AB; Bb = BC; Cc < CD (Cc = 2/3 CD). Variant: Aa = AB, Bb = 1/2 BC [cf. legend in drawings of Heptner, 1971, for Pareuchaeta rubra].

Male: ld, serrated lamella of left exopod of P5.

Species Paraeuchaeta brevirostris - Plate 5 of morphological figuresParaeuchaeta brevirostris Female:
1 - See key to species Groups and independent species of Paraeuchaeta (p.30): malayensis species Group.
2 - Outer spine of 2nd exopodal segment (or the 2nd of the first 2 exopodal segments forming a proximal, compound segment) of P1 normally developed (Fig.44-f).
3 - Outer lobe of Mx1 with 7 long setae in addition to 1 or 2 minute setae proximally (Fig.44-e).
4 - Genital somite without a conical process on left side close to anterior base of genital prominence (Fig.44-c).
5 - Dorsally and ventrally, genital somite symmetrical.
6 - Laterally, genital flange with normal posterior lobe (Fig.44-c).
7 - Laterally, genital somite with more or less smooth dorsal margin (Fig.44-c).
8 - Laterally, genital prominence with nearly straight or only slightly bulging posterior margin (Fig.44-c).
9 - Outer lobe of Mx1 with 7 long setae plus 1 or 2 very minute setae (Fig.44-e).
10 - Laterally, genital prominence with posterior margin equal to or longer than posterior ventral wall of somite (Fig.44-c).
11 - Laterally, posterior margin of genital prominence and posterior ventral wall of somite forming an angle of less than 120° (Fig.44-c).
12 - Laterally, genital flange bilobed (Fig.44-c).
