Paraeuchaeta dactylifera  (Park, 1978)   (F)
Syn.: Euchaeta dactylifera Park, 1978 (p.240, Descr.F, figs.F); Ward & Wood, 1988 (p.45, tab.1)
Ref.:
Bradford & al., 1983 (p.35, figs.F, Rem.); Park, 1994 (p.321); 1995 (p.70, Rem.F, figs.F); Bradford-Grieve & al., 1999 (p.880, 926, fig.F)
Species Paraeuchaeta dactylifera - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : T. Park in Bull. Scripps Inst. Oceanogr. Univ. California, San Diego, 1995, 29. [p.177, Fig.67].
Female: a, forehead (left side); b, urosome (left); c, genital somite (left); d, A2; e, Mx1 (first inner lobe separated), posterior; f, Mx2 (posterior); g, Mxp (coxa posterior, the rest anterior); h, exopod of P1 (anterior); i, exopod of P2 (anterior).

Species Paraeuchaeta dactylifera - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : T. Park in Antarctic Res. Ser. Washington, 1978, 27. [p.241, Fig. 91]; As Euchaeta dactylifera.
Female: A, forehead (lateral); B, C, D, distal end of metasome and genital segment (right side, left side, and ventral, respectively); E, posterior segment of metasome and urosome (dorsal); F, P1; G, P2. P1-2: legs (anterior).

Nota: The shape of the genital flanges are prolonged distally into long finger-shaped processes. The rostrum is small and ventrally directed.

Nota from Bradford & al. (1983, p.36):
Exopod of P1: Aa minute; Bb = 1/10 BC; Cc < BC.
P2 exopod: Aa ± AB; Bb = 1/3 BC; Cc = 1/3 CD; Dd = 1/4 CD. (see code of lengths outer spines in the Genus' figure, or in Paraeuchaeta sp. A).

Species Paraeuchaeta dactylifera - Plate 3 of morphological figuresissued from : J.M. Bradford-Grieve, E.L. Markhaseva & C.E.F. Rocha & B. Abiahy in South Atlantic Zooplankton, Edit. D. Boltovskoy. Vol.2. Copepoda. [p.1015, Fig. 7.155].
Female: Mx1 (schematic diagram).
Mx1 inner lobe 4 with 3 seta. Rostrum very small.

Species Paraeuchaeta dactylifera - Plate 4 of morphological figuresParaeuchaeta dactylifera Female.
1 - See key to species Groups and independent species of Paraeuchaeta (p.30).
2 - In Mx1 endopod, 1st segment with 2 setae (Fig.67-e).
3 - Basis of Mx1 with 3 setae (Fig.67-e); genital flange with long, fingerlike posterior lobe (Fig.37-c).

Distribution map of Paraeuchaeta dactylifera by geographical zones
Loc:
Antarct. (South Georgia, SW & SE Pacif.), sub-Antarct. (SE Pacif.), off Uruguay, SE Atlant., S Pacif. (temperate), Tasman Sea
N: 4
Lg.:
(3) F: 10-8,9; (20) F: 9,58-9; {F: 8,90-10,00}
Rem.: Meso-bathypelagic.
Sampling depth (Antarct., sub-Antarct.) : 0-1200 m.
After Park (1995, p.70), based on the findings together with the original discovery, the range of the species is restricted to the southern Atlantic and Pacific between 35°S and 66°S
