Alrhabdus johrdeae  Grice, 1973   (F)
Ref.:
Grice, 1973 (p.943, Descr.F, figs.F); Park, 2000 (p.8, Rem.)
Species Alrhabdus johrdeae - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : G.D. Grice in Bull; Mar. Sci., 1973, 23 (4). [p.944, Fig.1-9].
Female (25°10'N, 77°25'W): 1, habitus (left lateral side); 2, head (left latera view); 3, anterior end of head (ventral); 4, posterior end of prosome and urosome (dorsal); 5, idem (left lateral side); 6, A1; 7, Md; 8, masticatory edge of Md; 9, Mx1.

Nota: A1 25-segmented, reaching to 2nd urosomal segment; distal segments more elongate than proximal ones.
A2 with elongate endopodal setae reaching to 4th pedigerous somite; exopod less than 1/2 length of endopod.
Md with small palp; exopod 1-segmented, endopod 2-segmented. Md blade with several large pointed teeth.
Mx1 with enlarged 1st inner lobe bearing 11 spines and setae; inner lobes 2 and 3 bear 1 and 3 setae, respectively; 2nd basal segment with 1, endopod with 3, and exopod with 6 setae, respectively.

Species Alrhabdus johrdeae - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : G.D. Grice in Bull; Mar. Sci., 1973, 23 (4). [p.945, Fig.10-17].
Female: 10, Mx2; 11, Mxp; 12, distal end of Mxp; 13, P1; 14, P2; 15, P3; 16, P4; 17, P5.

Nota: Mx2 with 6 prominent lobes each bearing setae and spines; terminal spines robust.
Mxp basal segment with setae and spines variable lengths; 2nd segment with 3 marginal spines, distal spine long and slender.
P1 to P4 with 3-segmented exopods and endopods.
P5 with 3-segmented exopods and endopods, external margin of basis with long seta; internal margin of 2nd exopodal segment with short spines. Modified seta arising from 1st and 2nd endopodal segments lobate with sensory filament terminally.

Distribution map of Alrhabdus johrdeae by geographical zones
Loc:

Rem.: hyperbenthic (bathypelagic). Sampling depth 1733 m.
Until a male is found, it seems better to provisionally refer Alrhabdus to the Heterorhabdidae (Grice, 1973, p.946). Boxshall & Halsey (p.2004, p.68) include the genus as incertae sedis in Augaptilidae.
