Tortanus (Atortus) rubidus  Tanaka, 1965   (F,M)
Ref.:
Tanaka, 1965 (p.398, Descr.M, figs.M); Bowman, 1971 a (p.527); Ohtsuka & Kimoto, 1989 (p.398, Descr.F, Redescr.M, figs.F,M); Ohtsuka,1992 a (p.265); Chihara & Omori, 1997 (p.926, Pl.188,189: F,M); Barthélémy & al., 2003 (p.25, figs.F: genital somite).
Espèce Tortanus (Atortus) rubidus - Planche 1 de figures morphologiquesissued from : O. Tanaka in Publs Seto Mar. Biol. Lab., 1965, XII (5). [p.399, Fig.251].
Male: a, habitus (dorsal); b, forehead (left lateral side); c, last thoracic segment and urosome (right lateral side); d, middle portion of clasping of A1; e, P5; f, P5 (juvenile).

Espèce Tortanus (Atortus) rubidus - Planche 2 de figures morphologiquesissued from : S. Ohtsuka & K. Kimoto in J. Crustacean Biol., 1989, 9 (3). [p.401, Fig.7].
Female (from Shijiki Bay, Japan): A, habitus (dorsal); B, 5th pediger and urosome (lateral left side); C, idem (dorsal); D, genital segment (ventral); E, A1; F, P5 (anterior).

Espèce Tortanus (Atortus) rubidus - Planche 3 de figures morphologiquesissued from : S. Ohtsuka & K. Kimoto in J. Crustacean Biol., 1989, 9 (3). [p.403, Fig.9].
Male (from Shijiki Bay): A, habitus (dorsal); B, urosome (dorsal); C, 2nd urosomal segment ( ventrolateral view); D-E, urosome (dorsolateral view); F, right A1 (segments 14-21); G, P5 (anterior); H, right P5 (posterior).

Espèce Tortanus (Atortus) rubidus - Planche 4 de figures morphologiquesissued from : S. Ohtsuka & K. Kimoto in J. Crustacean Biol., 1989, 9 (3). [p.402, Fig.8];
Male (from Sagami Bay, Japan): A, urosome (dorsolateral view); B, P5 (anterior).

Espèce Tortanus (Atortus) rubidus - Planche 5 de figures morphologiquesissued from : S. Ohtsuka & R. Huys in Hydrobiologia, 2001, 453/454. [p.457, Fig.11, A-B].
Female (from Japan): A-B, ventral view of urosome, covered by complex spermatophore (two different specimens).
s: spermatophore; c, caudal rami; large arrow: opening of spermatophore from which fertilized eggs may be released; small arrow: rudimentary P5.
Scale bars = 0.1 mm.

Nota: The species with a rudimentary plate-like P5 (indicated by small arrow) have a complex coupling device on the spermatophore which almost entirely covers the urosome of the female, and is not readily detached from it using dissecting needles. A spermatophore so firmly glued onto the female urosome may remain on it after all egg clutches have been fertilized within the genital atrium (Barthélémy & al., 1998) and released. A large pore (about 0.00 mm) in diameter is present on the ventral side of the spermatophore (indicated by large arrow), beneath which the gonopore is located. This pore seems to be the only opening for releasing the fertilized eggs.
