Chen Q, 1983 (p.133, figs.F,M); Ohtsuka, 1992 a (p.265); Ohtsuka & Reid, 1998 (p.787)
Espèce Tortanus (Atortus) sinicus - Planche 1 de figures morphologiquesissued from : Q. Chen in Ocean Press, Beijing, 1983. [p.134, Fig.1].
Female (from S China Sea): a, c, habitus ( dorsal and lateral, respectively); b, forehead (lateral); d, P4; e, P5; f, corners of the last thoracic segment and urosome (dorsal).
Scale bars in mm.

Nota: A small process found at the upper part of the base of A2 (in lateral view).
head and 1st thoracix segment separate, 4th and 5th fused.Genital segment asymmetrical, its lower part at left with a process.
Anal segment and caudal rami fused.
Caudal rami 5.5 times as long as wide, the right ramus longer than the left one.
A1 extends beyond the end of the caudal rami.
P5 barely asymmetrical; left leg longer than tight leg; 2nd segment of each leg with a coarse process on the inner distal side; distal segments rather short, their tips bifurcated

Espèce Tortanus (Atortus) sinicus - Planche 2 de figures morphologiquesissued from : Q. Chen in Ocean Press, Beijing, 1983. [p.135, Fig.2].
Male: a, habitus (dorsal); b, medial part and geniculation of A1; c, urosome (dorsal); d-e, P5.
Scale bars in mm.

Nota: Urosome 5 segments, anal segment very short.
Right A1 geniculate with 17 segments, anterior edge of 13-15th segments smooth witout denticles.
P5 asymmetrical with 3 segments; 1st and 2nd segments of the left leg broad, terminal end of distal segment curved inward. Right leg chelate-like; 1st segment long, inner edge of the middle part with a small and obtuse process, at the anterior margin of this process there is 1 spine; 2nd segment arm-shaped, at the outer edge of the middle part also a small process, and at the inner edge, 3 spines; By the apex of the outer edge is a long spine.

Carte de distribution de Tortanus (Atortus) sinicus par zones géographiques
Loc:
South China Sea (Nansha, Xisha, Zhonsha, Donsha Islands - Guangdong province, S Taiwan Strait, HainanIs.)
N: 1
Lg.:
(1114) F: 2,2-2,25; M: 2-2,05; {F: 2,20-2,25; M: 2,00-2,05}
Rem.: According to Chen (1983, p.138), in the central part of the South China Sea, ranging between the Zhongsha Islands (Huangyan Island) and Xisha Islands (Jinqing Island), the geographical distribution shows two ecological groups: One distributes in the estuarine and coastal waters, including some species that come from the temperate zone, and some endemic species living in the coastal waters of Guangdong Province, such as Tortanus derjugini, T. vermiculus, T. dextrilobatus, T. denticulatus (= sheni). The other one inhabits in the off-shore waters and the waters around the coral reefs in the South China Sea, such as T. scaphus, T. murrayi, T. sinicus. Most of them are Indo-West Pacific tropical species.
