Paraeuchaeta abbreviata  (Park, 1978)   (F,M)
Syn.: Euchaeta abbreviata Park, 1978 (p.240, figs.F,M); Ward & Wood, 1988 (p.45, tab.1); Mauchline, 1992 a (p.2, 3); 1994 a (p.561); 1998 (tab.42); 1999 (n°182, p.8, figs.F,M)
Ref.:
Bradford & al., 1983 (p.23, figs.F,M); Park, 1994 (p.322); 1995 (p.63, Rem.F,M, figs.F, M); Park & Ferrari, 2009 (p.143, Table 4, Appendix 1, biogeography from Southern Ocean)
Espèce Paraeuchaeta abbreviata - Planche 1 de figures morphologiquesissued from : T. Park in Bull. Scripps Inst. Oceanogr. Univ. California, San Diego, 1995, 29. [p.168, Fig.58].
Female:
Female: a, forehead (left side); b, urosome (left); c, genital somite (left); d, e, genital somites showing variations in profile of genital flange and presence or absence of a small conical process; f, genital somite (ventral); g, Mx1 (first inner lobe omitted), posterior; h, P1 (anterior); i, P2 (anterior).

Nota: Laterally, dorsal outline of forehead only slightly arched, ending anteriorly in a low frontal eminence; laterally, rotrum large with broad base, pointing forward nearly parallel to anterior dorsal margin of forehead.
Genital prominence high, occupying center of genital somite; its posterior margin following genital field sloping about 45° with respect to long axis of somite. Ventral margin of genital flange in lateral view straight or somewhat emarginate and produced distally into a posterior lobe. Genital field also produced distally into a similar lobe. Dorsally, genital somite symmetrical, widest at middle. Ventrally, genital field also symmetrical, ovoid across somite. Posterior lobe of each genital flange pointing inward. Right side of genital somite in some specimens had a small conical process close to anterior base of genital prominence.
A1, A2, Md, Mx2 and Mxp similar to those of P. malayensis. 1st inner lobe of Mx1 with 1+9+3 setae (as in P. malayensis), but basis with only 4 setae without a small outermost seta; 1st endopodal segment with 5 setae; outer lobe with 6 long setae in addition to 2 minute setae proximally.
In P1 exopod, line representing fused joint between 1st and 2nd segments vaguely visible. 1st segment with strongly bulging outer edge and very small outer spine; outer spine of 2nd segment small, extending less than 1/3 way to distal end of 3rd segment; outer spine of 3rd segment longer than segment itself.

Espèce Paraeuchaeta abbreviata - Planche 2 de figures morphologiquesissued from : T. Park in Bull. Scripps Inst. Oceanogr. Univ. California, San Diego, 1995, 29. [p.169, Fig.59].
Male: a, forehead (left side); b, last pedigerous and genital somites (left); c, exopod of P1 (anterior); d, exopod of P2 (anterior); e, distal exopodal segments of left 5th leg (anterior); f, idem (lateral); g, idem (medial)

Espèce Paraeuchaeta abbreviata - Planche 3 de figures morphologiquesissued from : T. Park in Antarctic Res. Ser. Washington, 1978, 27. [p.242, Fig.92]. As Euchaeta abbreviata.
Female: A, forehead (lateral); B, C, D, distal end of metasome and genital segment (left side, right side, and ventral, respectively); E, posterior part of metasome and urosome (dorsal); F, outer lobe of Mx1; G, P1; H, P2. P1-2: legs (anterior).

Nota: Proportional lengths of prosome and urosome about 67:33.
Rostrum large, pointing obliquely forward at angle of about 45° with respect to body.
Nota from Bradford & al. (1983, p.23):
- P1 exopod: Aa < 1/8 AB; Bb < 1/3 BC; Cc > BC.
- P2 exopod: Aa > AB (Aa = AB + 1/2 Bb); Bb < BC; Cc ≤ CD. (see code of lengths outer spine in the Genus' figure of Paraeuchaeta, or in Paraeuchaeta sp. A).

Espèce Paraeuchaeta abbreviata - Planche 4 de figures morphologiquesissued from : T. Park in Antarctic Res. Ser. Washington, 1978, 27. [p.243, Fig.93]. As Euchaeta abbreviata.
Male: A, forehead (lateral); B, C, last metasomal and genital segments (left and right side respectively); D, P1; E, P2; F, P5; G, H, I, distal part of exopod of left P5 (anterior, medial, and lateral, respectively). P1-5: legs (anterior).

Nota from Bradford & al. (1983, p.23):
- P1 exopod: Aa ≤ 1/9 Ab; Bb < 1/3 BC; Cc ≥ BC.
- P2 exopod: Aa ± 1/2 AB; Bb ≥ 1/2 BC; Cc ± 1/2 CD. (see code of lengths outer spine in the Genus' figure of Paraeuchaeta, or in Paraeuchaeta sp. A).
