Armature formula of swimming legs P1 to P4.
Nota: Swimming legs P1 to P4 biramous, with 3-segmented rami. Intercoxal sclerites present in legs P1 to P4. Inner seta on basis of P1 absent; inner coxal seta present in P1 to P4.
- P5 comprising a protopodal segment incorporated into somite and free 1-segmented exopod, armed with 5 setae in both sexes.
- P6 represented by 2 small spines on genital operculum in female and by 1 seta on genital operculum in male.

Key to species after Boxshall & Halsey [p.815]:
- Female A1 5-segmented, with apical aesthetasc longer than entire A1; male A1 7-segmented .............Ratania flava.
- Female A1 7-segmented, with apical aesthetasc shorter than entire A1; male A1 9-segmented .......Ratania arlantica.
Remarks on dimensions and sex ratio:
The mean female size is 1.825 mm (n = 4; SD = 0.7932) and the mean male size is 1.853 mm (n = 4; SD = 0.8857). The size ratio (male/female) is 0.92 - 1.63, or approximately 101.5 %. The sex ratio (female/male) is 1 (in 2014).
