Taxonomic notes from Boxshall & Halsey (2004, p.416): Boxshall (1979) established the order Mormonilloida for the Giesbrechtian family Mormonillidae. In the possession of a 9-segmented antennary exopod in the male and in the retention of the9th and 10th ancestral exiopodal segments as separate in the adults of both sexes, the Mormonilloida exhibits the most plesiomorphic condition of any podoplean.

Nota: P5 female absent. Male P5 vestiçgial, represented by 2 setae on each side of ventral midline.
