Distribution map of Nullosetigera giesbrechti by geographical zones
|
| | | Loc: | | | Indonesia-Malatsia, Philippines, Pacif. (W equatorial), California, Pacif. (SE tropical) | | | N: | 5 | | | Lg.: | | | (5) F: 2,8; (46) F: 2,8; (137) F: 2,8; M: 2,6; {F: 2,80; M: 2,60} | | | Rem.: | For C.B. Wilson (1950, p.288) the females of N. aequalis and N. giesbrechti show similarities enough alike to make their separation difficult, but the males exhibit enough dissimilarity to make their separation imperative. This is an instance where both sexes are necessary to make satisfactory specific identification. For A. Scott (1909, p.150), this species differs from Phyllopus (= Nullosetigera) bidentatus from Brady (see Giesbrecht, 1892) by the nearly symmetrical prolongations of the last thoracic segment, and by their narrowly rounded apex in lateral view. After Tanaka (1964 c, p.37), the form described and figured by Giesbrecht under the name P. bidentatus is slightly differs from that described by A. Scott. According to A. Scott, Giesbrecht's specimen is identical with N. giesbrechti taken from the Malay Archipelago. | | | Last update : 24/01/2015 | |
