Female: A, posterior end of prosome and genital complex (lateral right side); B, A1 (segments 1-4, ventral toward right); C, idem (segments 5-11, ventral toward right); D, idem (segments 12-21, ventral right); E, idem (segments 22-24, ventral right); F, distal basal lobe and exopod of Mx2; G, worm-like setae of exopod of Mx2; H, Mxp (syncoxa and basis, with distal lobe omitted), anterior. Bars: 0.1 mm. Nota: Exopod of Mx2 with a distally constricted worm-like seta with a small lobe near the point of constriction.

Distribution map of Brachycalanus ordinarius by geographical zones
|
| | | Loc: | | | NW Atlant. (off S Cape Cod) | | | N: | 2 | | | Lg.: | | | (213) F: 3,4-2,92; {F: 2,92-3,40} | | | Rem.: | bathypelagic (depths: 992-1000 m), hyperbenthic. This species resembles Xanthocalanus obtusus Farran, 1905. For Campaner (1978 a, p.976, 977), Xanthocalanus ordinarius Grice, 1972, is doubtless a new species of Bracchycalanus, differing from B. bjornbergae by size and the shape of the body in lateral view, the length of the rostral filaments, the fusion of thoracic segments 4 and 5, the length of the postero-lateral corners of last thoracic segment, the length and position of the subterminal seta of exopodite 7 of A2, the number and/or shape of the setae of endopodal segments 1-3 and inner lobe 1 of Mx1, the shape and size of the setae of the inner lobe 5 and endopodite of Mx2, of the terminal spine of the inner lobe 5 of Mx2 and the setaze of basipod 1-2 of Mxp, the shape, number and distribution of the spines on the dorsal and ventral surfaces of P1-P5. | | | Last update : 30/12/2014 | |
