U.S. natn Mus., 100, 14 (4), 1950. [Pl.33, Fugs.497, 499, 500]. Female (from off S. California): 497, habitus (dorsal); 499, urosome (lateral right side); 500, P5. Nota: Head broadly rounded in front, with a slight median projection over the base of the rostrum. 4th and 5th metasomal segments fused, with triangular spines at the posterior corners pointed diagonally outward and backward and reaching the diasatl margin of the genital segment. Urosome 3-segmented, one-third as long as the metasome. There is a ventral protuberance at the center of the genital segment tipped with a short process. caudal rami nearly as wide as long, the left one larger that the right and each with 5 setae, the outer one at the center of the outer surface. Exopod of A2 much shorter than the endopod. P5 is almost exact replicas of that of P. bitumida.

Nota: Head and 1st thoracic segment separated, 4th and 5th separated. Urosome 5-segmented. Caudal rami as long as the last two segments combined. Right P5 with the movable finger of the chela is spatulate, tipped with 2 spines and armed with 3 others on the inner margin at the base; left P5 3-segmented with tufts of hairs on the inner margin at the two joints., the endsegment istipped with 3 spines, the two outer ones acute, the central one longer, curved, and blunt.
