Dawson in Trans. Amer. Micros. Soc., 1977, 96 (2). [p.249, Figs. 1-10]. Female (from Los Angeles Harbor]: 1-2, habitus (dorsal and left lateral, respectively); 3, A1; 4, urosome (dorsal); 5, same (ventral). Head and 1st thoracic segment separated by a weak suture; 3rd and 4th pedigerous segments produced into a lobe overlapping preceding segment in the midlateral line; 4th and 5th pedigerous segmentsfused with posteroventral edge deeply lobed. Caudal rami as long as wide with a spiniform process on inner distal edge; 2nd from the inner caudal setae widely spatulate. A1 17-segmented, reaching the 1st pedigerous segment; first segment with 3 large aesthetascs present. Gnathobase of Md with 6 small and 3 large teeth. Mx1 with inner lobe bearing 9 strong marginal spines with 5 delicate setae on each side of the lobe; 2nd and 3rd lobe each with 3 terminal setae; outer lobe with 4 setae; exopod bearing 10 setae; 2nd basal segment with 1 seta in a subterminal notch; endopod unsegmented with groups of 2 and 3 setae marginally and 6 setae terminally. Male: 6-7, habitus (dorsal and left lateral, respectively); 8, right geniculate A1; 9, A2; 10, Md. Nota: Except A1, remaining mouth-part appendages and legs P1 to P4 similar to that of the female

Male (from Dawson's sample in Los Angeles County Museum: LACM CR 1975-586.2): A, protopod and endopods of P5 (anterior); B, right exopod of P5 (anterior); C, right exopod of P5 (posterior); D, left exopod of P5 (anterior); E, terminal two segments of left A1.

Distribution map of Pseudocyclops bilobatus by geographical zones
|
| | | Loc: | | | California (Los Angeles Harbor) | | | N: | 2 | | | Lg.: | | | (489) F: ± 0,73; M: ± 0,65; (1105) F: 0,65-0,70; M: 0,59-0,61; {F: 0,73; M: 0,59-0,70}.
For Chullasorn & al. (2010, p.47) the differences between Dawson's lengths and those given by the authors for paratypes may be the result of Dawson including in his length of prosome that portion of the prosome that overlaps the urosome. | | | Last update : 22/04/2014 | |
