For Vervoort (1965, p.72) Farran's drawing of Mxp (Farran, 1929, fig.19e) is not correct. the female found from the Gulf of Guinea (not indicated in his list from the station 139) has mutilated legs, but a comparison of the various appendages with those of the Antarctic specimens (Vervoort, 1957) leaves no doubt about its identity. This species is very closely related, if not identical with Xanthocalanus incertus Sars, 1920 (cf. Sars, 1925, p.139, Pl.38, figs.19-23; Rose, 1933, p.132, fig.122).
The report of this species in the Chinese Sea needs confirmation. W. Zhang confirms the presence of this species in the Chinese Seas (pers. comm., 2006)
