Park, 1970 (p. 476, 507, Descr.F, figs.F); Bradford, 1973 (p.143); Park, 1982 (p.76); Bradford & al., 1983 (p.93)
Species Scaphocalanus acuminatus - Plate 1 of morphological figuresIssued from : T. S. Park in Bull. Mar. Sc., 1970, 20 (2). [p.508, Figs.158-165].
Female (from Caribbean Sea & G. of Mexico): 158, habitus (dorsal); 159, idem (lateral right side); 160, posterior part of metasome and genital segment (dorsal); 161, idem (lateral right side); 162, rostrum (anterior view); 163, P2 (distal part of exopod broken off), posterior; 164, P3 (distal part of exopod broken off), posterior; 165, P5.
Nota: Posterolateral corner of metasome in dorsal view with tip pointing inward. Mouthparts and P1 to P4 similar to Scaphocalanus major, but external spine of 1st exopod segment of P2 curved and much larger in the present species. P5 2-segmented, the distal segment with 1 internal, 1 terminal, and often 1 external spine; the internal spine about twice as long as the segment and finely serrated.

Distribution map of Scaphocalanus acuminatus by geographical zones
Loc:
Caribbean Sea, G. of Mexico
N: 1
Lg.:
(88) F: 1,92-1,84; {F: 1,84-1,92}
Rem.: bathypelagic (980-1900 m). For Park (1970, p.507) this species seems related to S. insignis Brodsky (1950) and S. elongatus A. Scott (1909).
