For Schulz (1991, p.205) the species seems closely related to Scolecuthrix marginata Giesbrecht (1888) from NE Pacific (15°N, 138°E), but differs from the latter by P5 and Mx1. The species shows affinity to S. tenuiserrata (Giesbrecht, 1892)
