Species Scolecitrichopsis distinctus - Plate 1 of morphological figuresIssued from : G.D. Grice & K. Hülsemann in Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., Harvard, 1970, 139 (4). [p.202-203, Pl. III, Figs. 55-57]. As Xanthocalanus distinctus.
Male (39°45.2'N, 70°33.8'W): 55-56, habitus (lateral and dordal, respectively); 57, 4th and 5th thoracic segments and urosome (lateral).

Nota : - Head and 1st thoracic segment incompletely fused, 4th and 5th thoracic segment separate.
- Abdomen 5-segmented, anal segment very short.
- Rostrum well developed with 2 filaments.
- Posterolateral margin of 5th thoracic segment angular.
- A1 reaching end of caudal rami ; segments 8-12 and 13-14 fused.
- Endopod of A2 slightly shorter than exopod.
- Basal segment of Md palp with 2 setae ; gnathobase with a number of complex teeth.
- Mx1 with 2 setae on 2nd inner lobe, 4 setae on 3rd inner lobe, 4 setae on 2nd basal segment, 2 and 5 setae on endopod, 7 setae on exopod.
- 5th lobe of Mx2 with strong spine ; 3rd and 4th lobe each with 1 sensory appendage ; endopod carrying 2 types of sensory filaments.
- Basipods of Mxp nearly equal in size, 2nd segment of endopod longest.
- Endopod of P1 1-segmented, of P2 2-segmented, of P3 and P4 as well as exopods of P1 to P4 3-segmented. Posterior sides of most of P2 to P4 covered with spinules and hair.
- P5 asymmetrical, left side about 3 times the length of right side. Both sides 5-segmented, endopods absent.
