[p.226, Fig.5, o-w]. Female (from NE Atlant.): o, habitus (lateral left side); p, Md (mandibular palp); q, Md (cutting edge); r, Mx2; s, Mxp; t, P1; u, P2 (2nd and 3rd exopod segments missing); v, P3 '2nd and 3rd exopod segments missing); w, P4 (2nd and 3rd exopod segments missing).

issued from : G.D. Grice & K. Hulsemann in Proc. U. S. natn.Mus., 1967, 122 (3583). [p.48, Fig.16-18]. With doubt. Female (from Indian Ocean): 16-17, habitus (dorsal and lateral, respectively); 18, Mx1 (spines on inner lobe omitted). Nota: As the swimming legs are broken it is not possible to determine whether the 2nd endopodal segments are inflated as they are in Pacific and Atlantic specimens of M. inflatus. The Indian Ocean specimens have 5 setae on the 2nd inner lobe and 4 setae on the 2nd basal segment of Mx1. There are 4 setae and 5 setae on the corresponding structures of the 2nd Mx2 of the Atlantic Ocean specimen (see Grice & Hulsemann, 1965). M. inflatus has not ^reviously been reported from the Indian Ocean.

For Grice & Hulsemann (1965, p.227) the species is distinguished from others in the genus by the inflated 2nd endopod segments of P2-P4. The locality records are not assured. | | | Last update : 17/01/2015 | |
