Nota: Mx1 with 4 setae on inner lobes 2 and 3, respectively; 4 or 5 setae on 2nd basal segment; 15 or 16 setae on endopod; 11 setae on exopod. 2 rows of small spines on 1st basal segment of Mxp.
bathypelagic (1000-2800 m). For Grice & Hulsemann (1965, p.228) the absence of a comb of spines on the 2nd basal segment of Mxp will distinguish this species from S. abyssalis Giesbrecht (1888) and S. caudatus Sars (1920).
