Stephos robustus Ohtsuka & Hiromi, 1987 (F,M) | |
| | | | | | Ref.: | | | Ohtsuka & Hiromi, 1987 (p.227, figs.F,M); Chihara & Murano, 1997 (p.913, Pl.178,179: F,M); Bradford-Grieve, 1999 a (p.25, Table1: Rem.); S.Y. Moon & al., 2015 (p.33: Rem.) | issued from : S. Ohtsuka & J. Hiromi in Publ. Seto Mar. Biol. Lab., 1987, 32 (4/6). [p.228, Fig.6]. Female (from Tanabe Bay, Japan): A, habitus with spermatophore (dorsal); B, idem with spermatophore (lateral left side); C, urosome (lateral left side); D, genital segment (lateral right side); E, urosome (ventral). Nota: Cephalosome and 1st metasomal segment separate, 4th and 5th partly fused. The surface of prosome and urosome covered with patches of very fine spinules. Posterolateral corners of prosome slightly asymmetrical, the right side more elongated than the left one, left side bilobed while right side roundly lobated. genital segment asymmetrical, with large swellings on both sides, and a small dorsal boss in the middle; anterior margin of genital operculum fringed with a row of spinules; a transverse row of spinules present on each lateral side; left distal margin bearing a minute spinular row ventrolaterally. The spermatophore attached to the genital segment is very slender, about twice as long as urosome.

S. pacificus. Md gnathobase with spinulose seta on edge and minute spinules on surface; exopod 5-segmented. Mx1 gnathobase with 6 spines and 7 setae; basipod 2 with spinules near base of exopod; exopod bearing 2 rows of spinules on surface. Mx2: basipod with 6 lobes, 1st to 6th lobes bearing 6, 3, 3, 3, 4 and 1 setae, respectively; endopod 3-segmented, bearing 5 setae in all.

Male: A, habitus (lateral left side); B, urosome (dorsal); C, P4 (anterior); D, P5 (anterior). paratype 2: A, B; paratype 1: C, D. Nota: Urosome 5-segmented, 2nd segment produced posteroventrally into a finger-like process. Antennular aesthetascs thicker than in female Remarks: spinulation of the legs is more or less variable between individuals and between the sexes.
