Stephos tsuyazakiensis  Tanaka, 1966   (F,M)
Syn.: Stephus tsuyazakiensis Tanaka, 1966 (p.38, figs.F,M)
Ref.:
Chihara & Murano, 1997 (p.913, Pl.178,179: F,M); Bradford-Grieve, 1999 a (p.25, Table1: Rem.); S.Y. Moon & al., 2015 (p.31: Rem.) ; Kos, 2016 (p.39, figs.F, M, Rem.)
Species Stephos tsuyazakiensis - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : O. Tanaka in Symp. Ser. mar. biol. Ass. India, 1966, (2) 1. [p.39, Fig.1].
Female (from NW coast of Kyushu, Japan): a, habitus (dorsal); b, forehead (lateral)c, last thoracic segment and urosome (lateral left side); d, furcal rami; e, A2; f, Md (mandibular palp); g, Mxp; h, P1; i, P2; j, P3; k, P4; l, P5.

Nota: Rostral prominence without filaments. The urosome segments and furca are in the proportional lengths as 52:16:12:8:12 = 100. Prosome and urosome are in the proportional lengths as 68:32. A1 24-segmented, almost reaches the distal margin of the genital segment; the 12th segment has a small spine on the anterior distal margin. Genital segment swollen on the left lateral margin about in the middle and furnished with minute spinules around the apex; the ventral surface of the segment is considerably produced below near the distal margin. caudal rami slightly asymmetrical, the right ramus larger, slightly longer than wide; the left ramus about as long as wide. A2 exopod 1.5 times as long aD endopod. Md strong, exopod shorter than endopod. P5 symmetrical, 3-segmented, the distal segment ends in an acute spine directed somewhat inwards, a row of spinules , about 5 in number, runs obliquely at the distal 1/3 of the segment ; an outer marginal seta arises from the middle of the segment

Male: m, habitus (dorsal); n, A1; o, P5.

Nota: A1 23-segmented, extends to the distal margin of the 2nd urosomal segment; the 12th segment has a small spine on the anterior distal margin. The mouth parts and swimming legs as in female. The urosome segments and furca are in the proportional lengths as 28:22:14:11:8:17 = 100. P5 asymmetrical ; the right le gis long and slender, composed of 4 segments, the last segment is claw-like and carries a process on the inner proximal margin ; the left le gis 4-segmented, the distal segment is furnished with a dense fascicle of lanceolate appendages varying in size.

Species Stephos tsuyazakiensis - Plate 2 of morphological figuresIssued from : M.S. Kos in Zoological Institut RAS, St. Petersburg, 2016, 179. [p.40, Fig.18 (part.)]. Stephos tsuyazakiensis female and male.

Distribution map of Stephos tsuyazakiensis by geographical zones
Loc:
Japan (NW coast of Kyushu, south estuaries: Chikugo, Midori & Kuma Rivers)
N: 2
Lg.:
(97) F: 0,78; M: 0,73; {F: 0,78; M: 0,73}
Rem.: Neritic. Specimens contained in sea water led into the aquarium from the tank which is connected directly with natural sea water of the coastal region of Tsuyazaki near Fukuoka City.
After Bradford-Grieve (1999 a, p.25) this species belongs to type IV (see Genus Stephos).
