Distribution map of Euchirella grandicornis by geographical zones

| | | | | | Loc: | | | Peru - Easter Island, NE Pacif. The female is often confused with E. galeata. For Vaupel Klein (1984 a, p.39), apart from the general shape, female can only be distinguished from E. galeata by (1) shape of crest and rostrum, (2) shape of the genital somite, (3) shape of the spine on basis 1 of P4, (4) number of spinules on basipodite 2 of Mxp (47, but 28 for E. galeata). Prior to the actual distinction of these two forms, authors have not always distinguoished between them. This implies that some descriptions may pertain to mixed collections of E. galeata and E. grandicornis (Giesbrecht, 1892 and Wilson, 1950 bear witness of such condition. | | | Last update : 22/02/2021 | |
