Amallothrix robustipes  Grice & Hulsemann, 1965   (F)
Syn.: ? Xanthocalanus paululus Park, 1970 (p.497); Roe, 1975 (p.364)
Ref.:
Grice & Hulsemann, 1965 (p.239, Descr.F, figs.F); 1967 (p.16, 26: Rem.); Bradford, 1973 (p.147, Rem.); Roe, 1975 (p.365, Rem.); Bradford & al., 1983 (p.123, Rem.)
Species Amallothrix robustipes - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : G.D. Grice & K. Hulsemann in J. Zool., 1965, 146. [p.238, Fig.13, f-k].
Female (from 30°01'N, 23°00.7'W): f, posterior end of cephalothorax and urosome (lateral left side); g, Mx1; h, P1; i, P2; j, P3; k, P5.

Nota: Head and 1st thoracic segment separated, 4th and 5th separated by a fine line.
Posterior-lateral corner of 5th thoracic segment rounded and indented.
Rostrum small, filaments absent.
A1 25-segmented.
2nd and 3rd endopodal segments of P3 and P4 with short spinules on posterior side.
P5 3-segmented; terlinal segment elongate with 4 spines; external spine small, inserted in proximal 1/3 of the segment; outer terminal spine stout, inner terminal spine strong, about as long as inner marginal spine with spinules.
caudal ramiparallel, about as long as wide

NZ: 2 + 1 doubtful

Distribution map of Amallothrix robustipes by geographical zones
Loc:
NE Atlant. (off Canary Is.- Azores-), ? Cape Verde Is., ? G. of Mexico, W Indian
N: 2
Lg.:
(226) F: 1,13; {F: 1,13}
Rem.: "Amallothrix" robustipes: Probable in Tharybidae.
This species is distinguished from its closest relative A. arcuata (Sars, 1920) by the absence of rostral filaments, the separation of the 4th and 5th thoracic segments and structure of P5 (the place of insertion of the inner and outer spines and the larger size of the terminal spines on the terminal segment).
For Grice & Hulsemann (1967, p.26) the specimens from Indian Ocean have 2 setae on the 2nd inner lobe and 10 setae on the endopod of Mx and no rostral filaments.
