Distribution map of Euchirella similis by geographical zones
|
| | | | | | Issued from : J.M. Bradford & J.B. Jillett in New Zealand Ocean. Inst. Memoir, 86, 1980. [p.88-89, Figs.65-67]. Distribution of several species of Euchirella in the Tasman Sea and around New Zealand. Nota: Euchirella indica (= Euchirella massinensis indica). |
| | | Loc: | | | sub-Antarct. (Indian, SE Pacif.), off South Africa (W), Namibia, off S St.-Helena Is., Cape Verde Is., S Indian, SW Australia, S Tasmania, New Zealand, off Juan Fernandez Is., Chile.
Type locality: Atlantic (between 17°28'N and 35°39'S). | | | N: | 12 | | | Lg.: | | | (10) F: 4; (37) F: 5,41-4; (201) F: 4,75; (242) F: 5,3-4,7; (432) F: 5,15-4,3; (1257) F: 5,0-5,3; {F: 4,00-5,41}
The mean female size 4.701 mm (n = 8; SD = 0.5618). | | | Rem.: | Meso-bathypelagic. Sampling depth (sub-Antarct.) : 400-2000 m. For Vervoort (1957, p.64) the female is recognized by the curious protuberance on the right side of the genital somite. The posterior surface of the 1st basal segment of P4, according to Wolfenden's notes, carries 2 or 3 strong spines; Vervoort'specimen shows 2 of such spines. | | | Last update : 22/02/2021 | |
