Ref.:
Sewell, 1949 (p.129, figs.F); Fosshagen, 1970 a (p.33); Silas, 1972 (p.638); Ho, Dojiri, Hendler & Deets, 2003 (p.589, tab.1); Boxshall & Halsey, 2004 (p.691)
Species Orientopsyllus investigatoris - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : R.B.S. Sewell in The John Murray Expedition, 1933-34, Scientific Reports, IX (2), 1949. [p.130, Fig.36] .
Female (from Nankauri Harbour, Nicobar Is.): A, habitus (dorsal); B, idem (lateral right side); C, genital segment (lateral); D, A1; E, P1; F, P3; G, P4; H, P5.

Nota: Proportional lengths of the anterior and posterior regions in 2 specimens: 51:49 and 53:47. 4th thoracic segment with rounded postero-lateral margins. Proportional lengths of the posterior body region (from 5th thoracic segment to caudal rami) as 11:6:6:61:16 = 100.. genital segment with a pair of curved hook-like (\"egg-setae\"). Caudal rami are two and a half times as long as wide, slightly divergent; each ramus bears 1 seta about half-way along the outer margin, 4 setae, of approximately equal length, on the distal end, and 1 small accessory seta on the dorsal aspect.. A1 6-segmented; proportional lengths as 15:31:22:9:10:13 = 100; the 5th segment with a sensory filament. No A2 and mouth-parts. P5 reduced to a single segment, with distally 2 spines of unequal length.

Species Orientopsyllus investigatoris - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : J.-s. Ho, M. Dojiri, G. Hendler & G.B. Deets in J. Crust. Biol., 2003, 23 (3). [p.589, Table 1].
Characters of female.
Armature formulae for legs are presented as outer margin first, with Roman numerals for the number of spines, and Arabic numerals for setae. Data and armature formulae of the legs based on information from Sswell, (1949). Question mark (?) follows characters that were not clearly described or illustated, and information that was based on damaged material.
