Species Cymbasoma rostratum - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : T. Scott in Rep. Fishery Bd Scotl., 1904, 12 (3). [Pl. XIV, fig.5]. As Thaumaleus rostratus.
Female (from Lerwick Harbour, Shetlad): 5, habitus (dorsal).

Nota : 1st cephalothoracic segment moderately stout, tapering gradually in front into a blunt pointed rostrum, while posteriorly the body becomes gradually narrower towards the distal extremity.

Species Cymbasoma rostratum - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : T. Scott in Rep. Fishery Bd Scotl., 1904, 12 (3). [Pl. XIV, figs.6-8]. As Thaumaleus rostratus.
Female: 6, A1; 7, P5; 8, abdomen and caudal rami.
Abdomen 3-segmented ; 1st segment as large as the next two together, but the 2nd very small.
caudal rami each with 3 setae of moderate lengths
A1 short and moderately stout, 4-segmented and sparingly setiferous ; 1st and 3rd segments small, 2nd about one and a half times the length of the 3rd, while the last equal to the entire length of the other’ 3 segments.
P5 short and foliaceous, and each terminates in two unequal lobes ; the outer lobe, which is narrower than the inner and projects somewhat beyond it, furnished with 3 moderately long setae ; the inner lobe broadly rounded and provided with a single seta.

Rem.: Isaac (1975) suggests that Thaumaleus similirostratus could be the male of this species.
After Grygier & Suarez-Morales (2018, p499) it is possible that the specimen from the Lundy Island area ( off Bristol Channel) from Issac, 1974 as Thaumaleus similirostratus (= Cymbasoma similirostratum) is the male of this species, and proposed to maintain the appellation similirostratum (Isaac, 1974) for this species. (see art. 11.5 and 15.1 in the ICZN.
