Species Monstrilla serricornis - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : G.O. Sars in An Account of the Crustacea of Norway, with short descriptions and figures of all the species, 1921 a, 8. [Pl. X, 1].
Male (from Norway). gen.sv, genital segment (ventral).

Nota: Ventral face of the cephalic segment forming anteriorly a rather prominent gibbous convexity, but without any distinctly marked oral tubule.
Eye inconspicuous.
A1 5-segmented, about equalling in length 2/3 of the cephalic segment; the last segment very movably articulated to the preceding one, and somewhat knife-shaped, with the inner edge divided at the extremity into 5 small recurved denticles
P5 wholly absent.
Abdomen 4-segmented, the 1st of which is produced below to a sub-clavate copulative appendage provided at the end on each side with a short auriculiform lobe.
Caudal rami comparatively small and somewhat divergent, each having the form of a rounded oval lamella edged with 5 subequal setae.

Distribution map of Monstrilla serricornis by geographical zones
Loc:
? G. of Maine, Norway (Stavanger Fjord: Bukken, Kvalø), English Channel, W Medit. (Algiers, North Africa), Japan
N: 6
Lg.:
(663) M: 1,75; (723) M: 1-0,9; {M: 0,90-1,75}
Rem.: Numerous authors have considered, mistakenly, the synonymy between the males of M. helgolandica and Monstrilla serricornis . See remarks in Suarez-Morales (2000 c, p.114-115).

For Jeon, Lee & Soh (2018, p.47) this species belongs to the new genus Caromiobenella, therefore it is a comb. nov.
