Females: Comparison between the most closely related species G. paracurvicornis (1), G. curvicornis (2) and G. latifrons (3).

Gaetanus paracurvicornis female:
1 - Anterior part of cephalon with frontal spine.
2 - Exopodal segment 1 of A2 with 1 seta, exopodal segment 2 with 2 setae. 2nd internal lobe of Mx1 with 5 setae.
3 - Exopod of P1 indistinctly 3-segmented, with 2 external spines. Lateral plate of Mxp protopodite reduced, sometimes there are visible traces of the plate.

For Brodsky (1967, p.168) this species resembles G. secundus Esterly in the form of the frontal spine and the length of the thoracic spines; it differs in its much shorter A1.
