Rem.: Coastal. Tropical affinity
After Björnberg (1963, p.83) in Brazilian waters this species occurs sparingly in the samples where C. giesbrechti is very numerous. The greatest percentage of the species occurred in waters where the salinity was under 34.00 p.1000.
Observed in the ballast of ships in San Francisco.
First occurrence in Chilean waters by Hidalgo & al. (2010).
Ben Ltaief & al. (2017 (p.11, Table III) note the first record of this species in the Mediterranean Sea (Tunisia: Gulf of Gabes).
For Boxshall & Halsey (2004, p.491) the subgenus (Dahl, 1912) is considered as full generic status pending phylogenetic revision of the whole family at the generic level.
