This species resembles Oncaea bispinosa.
According to Krsinic (1988, p.550) this species is one of the most numerous copepods in the Zdriatic Sea (sampled with a 0.053 mm mesh aperture by a Nansen net). Rudenjak-Lukenda (1985) registered an average of 69 specimens by liter, with a maximum value of 134 ind/l using a 5 l Van Dorn bottle.
