Female (from NE Pacific): E, habitus (dorsal; scale bar: w). Scale bars: 0.1 mm, see figures 3, 4, 5, 10 of Heron and Frost, 2000 for Oncaea canadensis and Oncaea insolita.

issued from : G.A. Heron & B.W. Frost in Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 2000, 113 (4). [p.1021, Fig.1, I]. Female: P2-P4 endopod terminal ''spine set'' (combination of the lengths, shapes, and position of the three or two terminal spines on the endopods of swimming legs 2-4 for different Oncaea' species). Nota: Caudal ramus with usual lateral

issued from : G.A. Heron & B.W. Frost in Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 2000, 113 (4). [p.1039, Fig.13]. Female: A, habitus (lateral; scale bar: w); B-C, pediger 4 posterior corner and urosome (lateral and dorsal, respectively; scale bar: x); D, left A1 (scale bar: x); E, left A2 (scale bar: x); F, labrum (scale bar: v); G, right Md (scale bar: y); H, left Mx1 (scale bar: y); I, right Mx2 (scale bar: y); J, right Mxp (scale bar: x). Scale bars: 0.1 mm, see figures 3, 4, 5, 10 of Heron and Frost, 2000 for Oncaea canadensis and Oncaea insolita. Nota: Ratio of length of prosome to that of urosome about 2.49:1. Ratio of length of genital segment to that of remainder of urosome about 1.4: 1 Genital segment with gonopore, bearing a setule, at mid-region of dorsal surface.Caudal ramus with usual lateral anterior short seta located on middorsal surface; posterior dorsal seta slightly longer than innermost terminal seta (inner long terminal seta missing on specimens examined).

issued from : G.A. Heron & B.W. Frost in Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 2000, 113 (4). [p.1041, Fig.14, A-G]. Female: A-D, P1 to P4 (scale bar: x). Nota: Endopods of P2 and P3 with terminal cone, P4 without. P5 with free segment small, 2 terminal setae, the longer slightly spiniform; outer basal seta. P6 represented by thin, spiniform setule on gonopore. Male: E, habitus (lateral; scale bar: w); F-G, pediger 4 posterior corner and urosome (dorsal and lateral, respectively; scale bar: x). Nota: Ratio of prosome to that of urosome 2.25:1. Urosome 1st segment with posterior transverse ridge. caudal ramus and caudal setae similar to those of female, including anterior short seta location on mid-dorsal surface. Swimming legs as in female. P5 not delimited from thoracic segment, armature similar to that of female. P6 represented by posterolateral flap on ventral surface of genital segment, pointed posterior corner protruding in dorsal view. Scale bars: 0.1 mm, see figures 3, 4, 5, 10 of Heron and Frost, 2000 for Oncaea canadensis and Oncaea insolita.

Distribution map of Oncaea rotata by geographical zones
|
| | | Loc: | | | Station 'P', NE Pacif., off Vancouver Is., NE Japan (Oyashio region) | | | N: | 2 | | | Lg.: | | | (848) F: 0,67-0,7; M: 0,58; { F: 0,67-0,70; M: 0,58} | | | Rem.: | For Heron & Frost (2000, p.1040 the species appears to have an affinity to O. illgi., but the shape and length of P4 endopod as well as the mid-dorsal location of the proximal short seta of the caudal ramus of O. rotata distinguish it from O. illgi. | | | Last update : 27/01/2015 | |
