Species Arietellus acutus - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : A.K. Heinrich inArthropoda Selecta, 2002 (2003), 11 (3). [p.174, Figs.1-10].
Male (from SW Indian Ocean): 1, habitus (dorsal); 2, lateral left side); 3, forehead (ventral); 4, idem (lateral); 5, last oromal somite and urosome (lateral left side); 6, caudal rami (dorsal); 7, P5; 8, left exopodal segment 3 of P5; 9, idem (another view); 10, left endopodite of P5.
Scale bars in mm.
Head and 1st pedigerous segment separate. Body hamped dorsally. Lsst prosomal somite with nearly symmetrical, non-divergent ventrolateral spiniform processes, produced backwards and dorsally. Urosome 5-segmented. Mouth parts and P1, P2 as described by Giesbrecht (1892) for A. setosus. Coxae and intercoxal sclerite fused. Right P5 with coxa and basis incompletely fused, basal seta remarkably elongate; endopodite 1-segmented; exopodite 3-segmented, distal two segments incompletely separate; segment 2 with process and bunch of setae on inner distal angle, segment 3 spatulate. Left P5 with coxa and basis separate; endopodite 2-segmented; exopodite 3-segmented, segment 3 with 2 terminal spines, longer spine with swelling at midlength, shorter one slightly bent.

Rem.: depth sample: 650-850 m.
For Heinrich (2002, p.173) this species is similar to A. setosus and A. minor, but is distinguished fom setosus by non-divergent processes of the last thoracic segment and left P5 structure; and from minor by the left leg endopodite 1-segmented, and the spines of left exopodite of last segment nearly equal length.
