Species Haloptilus setuliger - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : O. Tanaka in Publs Seto Mar. Biol. Lab., 1964, XII (1). [p.41, Fig.193].
Female: a, habitus (dorsal); b, forehead (left lateral side); c, urosome (dorsal); d, last thoracic segment and urosome (left lateral side); e, Md; f, Mx1; g, P1; h, P5.

Nota: The urosome segments and furca are in the proportional lengths as 38:9:6:22:25 = 100. A1 exceeds the end of the furca by distal 10 segments. P5: The seta on the 2nd basal segment is very long, exceeds much beyond the distal end of the terminal spine of the exopod.

Distribution map of Haloptilus setuliger by geographical zones
Loc:
Japan (Sagami Bay), China Seas (East China Sea, South China Sea), Taiwan (N: Mienhua Canyon), Pacif.( W equatorial), off E Cape Cod (in Harding, 1974)
N: 3
Lg.:
(69) F: 3,27; {F: 3,27}
Rem.: Recorded from the coast of Japan at a depth less than 1000 m.
? Cf. Haloptilus longicirrus. Bradford-Grieve (1999 b, p.61) is not convinced of the synonymy.
The specimen resembles H. longicornis and H. longicirrus.
The occurrence of this species in Sargasso Sea, near slope of the Cape Cod (USA), indentified by Harding (1974), is astonishing and requires confirmation.
