Azygonectes intermedius  Fosshagen & Iliffe, 2004   (F)
Ref.:
Fosshagen & Iliffe, 2004 (p.119, figs.F)
Species Azygonectes intermedius - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : A. Fosshagen & T.A. Iliffe in Sarsia, 2004, 89. [p.120, Fig.42.
Female (from Bahamas): A, habitus (lateral); B, urosome (dorsal); C, rostrum; D, A1; E, A2; F, Md; G, Mx1; H, Mx2; I, Mxp.

Nota :
Rostrum elongate with 2 long filaments at tip.
A1 27-segmented, reaching beyond caudal rami ; segments X and XI incompletely separated, jointed on part of posterior margin, segments XV-XXVII elongate, segment WIX with 2 small setae, terminal segment 27 with 7 elements.
A2 with endopod longer than exopod. Exopod indistinctly 9-segmented ; last segment incompletely separated from penultimate one ; both segments combined representing about 1/3 length of exopod.
Md with gnathobase bearing 2 strong ventral teeth, each with 3 to 4 distal projections, plus a row of 8 differently shaped pointed teeth along with short spinules, and small dorsal seta. Endopod reduced, 2-segmented. Exopod well developed, apparently 4-segmented with 1 small seta and 5 long setae.
Mx1 with praecoxal arthrite bearing 14 elements, 9 coarse spinos setae and 5 ordinary setae ; coxal endite and basal endites with 3, 4 and 4setae, respectively ; coxal epipodite with 9 setae ; endopod with 6 setae along inner margin and 6 terminal setae ; exopod with 10 setae .
Mxp : syncoxa ; basis with row of fine setules along proximal half of inner margin ; endopod 5-segmented with 1st and 2nd segments partially fused, 3rd segment elongate, ; setae on endopod generally unmodified and ending in thread-like tip.

Species Azygonectes intermedius - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : A. Fosshagen & T.A. Iliffe in Sarsia, 2004, 89. [p.121, Fig.3].
Female: A, P1; B, P2; C, P3; D, P4; E, P5.

Distribution map of Azygonectes intermedius by geographical zones
Loc:
NW Atlant. (Bahamas: anchialine caves)
N: 1
Lg.:
(884) F: 1,69; 1,77; {F: 1,69 -1,77}
Rem.: For Fosshagen & Iliffe (2004, p.122), judjing from its transparent appearance and the long A1, the species seems to be living pelagic in the cave.
