Krsinic, 2005 (p.608, figs.F,M)
Species Speleohvarella gamulini - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : F. Krsinic in J. Plankton Res., 2005, 27 (6). [p.609, Fig.1].
Female (from 43°70' N, 17°03'02''E): A-B, habitus (dorsal and lateral, respectively); C, urosome (dorsal); D, genital double-somite (lateral, right side).

Cephalosome and 1st pedigerous somite fused. Caudal rami asymmetrical, longer than wide, right ramus slightly longer than left and about twice as long as wide; each ramus with 4 terminal setae (III-VI), small seta VII on inner border of caudal ramus; attachment sites of inner setae asymmetrical developed, with left seta originating anterior to that of right ramus; terminal setae II-VI with fine setules along their lengths.

Species Speleohvarella gamulini - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : F. Krsinic in J. Plankton Res., 2005, 27 (6). [p.610, Fig.2].
Female: A, urosome (lateral); B, genital double-somite (ventral); C, anterior part of the head with labrum (ventral); D, A1.

Nota: A1 24-segmented, reaching almost end of anal segment. Rostral area rounded with a very small protuberance ventrally. labrum with 6 secretory pores on anterior surface, distal margin spinulose, and each lateral lobe with spinulose patch. Genital double-somite with genital area symmetrical, located medio-ventrally; operculi fused, genital apertures and seminal receptacles paired; row of small spinules on each side of genital double-somite.

Species Speleohvarella gamulini - Plate 3 of morphological figuresissued from : F. Krsinic in J. Plankton Res., 2005, 27 (6). [p.611, Fig.3].
Female: A, A2; B, Md; C, Mx1; D, Mx2; E, Mxp.

Nota: Exopod of A2 7-segmented; endopod 2-segmented. Endopod of Md 2-segmented, exopod 5-segmented with setal formula 1, 1, 1, 1, 2. Mx1 with praecoxal arthrite bearing 9 + 4 elements posteriorly; coxal epipodite armed with 8 setae and coxal endite with 3 setae; proximal basal endite with 4 setae, distal basal endite with 5 and basal exite with 2 setae; exopod bearing 11 setae; endopod 3-segmented, setal formula 3, 4, 7. Endopod of mxp 6-segmented, armature formula 2, 4, 4, 3, 3+1, 4.

Species Speleohvarella gamulini - Plate 4 of morphological figuresissued from : F. Krsinic in J. Plankton Res., 2005, 27 (6). [p.612, Fig.4].
Female: A-D, P1 to P4; E, P5.

Species Speleohvarella gamulini - Plate 5 of morphological figuresissued from : F. Krsinic in J. Plankton Res., 2005, 27 (6). [p.614, Fig.5].
Male: A-B, habitus (dorsal and lateral, respectively; C, P5; D, right P5 (lateral); E, terminal part of left P5.

Nota: Rostral area and labrum, A2, mouthparts and swimming legs P1-P4, all identical to female. Urosome 5-segmented, proportional lengths of urosomites and caudal rami 36 : 15 : 13 : 13 : 10 : 13 = 100. Genital segment asymmetrical, with genital aperture on the left. Posterior margins of urosomites 2-4 fringed with very fine spinules. P5 uniramous, strongly asymmetrical; left leg elongate, 5-segmented, proportional lengths of segments 18 : 27 : 16 : 33 : 6 = 100.; right P5, small, reduced 3-segmented with proximal segment representing coxa and incorporated intercoxal sclerite. caudal rami as in female.

Species Speleohvarella gamulini - Plate 6 of morphological figuresissued from : F. Krsinic in J. Plankton Res., 2005, 27 (6). [p.613, Table I].
Armature formula Female and Male swimming legs P1 to P4.

Distribution map of Speleohvarella gamulini by geographical zones
Loc:
Medit.: central Adriatic Sea (Bay of Kozja: Ziva Voda cave, Lenga Pit)
N: 2
Lg.:
(940) F: 0,52-0,57; M: 0,53-0,57; {F: 0,52-0,57; M: 0,53-0,57}
Rem.: For Krsinic (2005, p.613) this species displays several primitive features for the family Stephidae, including 13 armature elements on the praecoxal arthrite and 2 setae on the basal exite of the Mx1, contrary to remaining Stephidae which are armed with a single seta on the basal exite.
The salinity in water column below 5 m depth was 37-38 and temperature ± 15°C.
