Female (from S.E. North Island, New Zealand): A, habitus (lateral right side); B, idem (dorsal); C, rostrum (anterior aspect); D, urosome (ventral); E, right caudal ramus (ventral view).

Nota: head and 1st thoracic segment fused, 4th and 5th fused. Urosme of 4 free segments (Anal segment short, not visible on dorsal surface). A1 (24-segmented) extends to distal border pedigerous somite 2.

This species resembles X. siedleckii.
Morphological characteristics (from Bradford-Grieve , 2005, p.947): A1 extends to distal border of pedigerous 2; basis of Md with 3 setae; inner lobe 1 of Mx2 with 5 setae; basis of P1 with inner distal spinules; general proportions of P5: squat; basis and exopod of P5: fused; exopod of P5 with 3 spines.
