Byrathis sp.  Markhaseva & Ferrari, 2005   (F)
Ref.:
Markhaseva & Ferrari, 2005 a (p.143, Descr.F, figs.F, tab.2, Rem.)
Species Byrathis sp. - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : E.L. Markhaseva & F.D. Ferrari in Invert. Zool., 2005, 2 (2). [p.144, Fig.19].
Female (from Eastern tropical Pacific): A-B, posterior prosome and genital complex (dorsal and lateral, respectively); C, A2 (exopod); D, Mx2 (praecoxal, coxal and proximal basal endites); E, Mx2 (sensory setae of proximal basal endite and distal basal endite + ramus); F, Mxp (syncoxa); G, P5.
Scale bars: 0.1 mm.

Nota : Prosome 5 times longer than urosome. Cephalosome and pediger segment 1 fused, 4 and 5 fused dorsally, separate laterally. Posterior corners of prosome triangular lobes in lateral view. Rostrum without filaments. A1 24-segmented. Genital complex symmetrical in dorsal view, small denticles dorsally and laterally on it and following two urosomal segments. A2 coxa with 1 seta ; basis with 2 setae ; endopod 2-segmented, proximal segment with 1 seta, distal with 15 (7 terminal and 8 subterminal setae) ; exopod 8-segmented with arthrodial membrane between 3rd and 4th segments present ventrally and with 1, 3, 0 ( ?), 1, 1, 1, 1, 3 setae. Md : gnathobase with tooth-like knob on posterior face. Mx1 : praecoxal endite with 2 posterior and 9 terminal setae, proximal 2 terminal setae curved proximally. Mx2 : proximal praecoxal endite with missing serae, distal with 3 setae, 1 thicker ; proximal coxal endite with 3 setae, 1 thicker, distal with 3 setae, 1 thicker ; proximal basal endite with 4 setae, 1 thicker, 1 worm-like and 3 brush-like sensory setae, 1 brush-like seta thicker and with longer setules than others. Mxp : praecoxal endites of syncoxa with 1, 2, 3 setae, 1 worm-like ; coxal endite with 3 setae ; basis with a row of small denticles proximally, 3 medial setae, 2 setae on distal endite ; endopod 5-segmented with 4, 4, 3, 3 +1 lateral and 4 setae. P1 Von Vaupel Klein’s organ with seta of basis slightly curved and slightly recurved, anterior knob of endopod with denticles.

Species Byrathis sp. - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : E.L. Markhaseva & F.D. Ferrari in Invert. Zool., 2005, 2 (2). [p.137, Table 2].

Ce = cephalosome; Mn = mandible; Pd = pediger segment; Ri = endopod; Re = exopod

Distribution map of Byrathis sp. by geographical zones
Loc:
E Pacific tropical (Volcano 7)
N: 1

Rem.: hyperbenthic (depth 2973-2992 m).
For Markhaseva & Ferrari (2005, p.143) this specimen is not given name because it has been damaged significantly. Terminal setae of the praecoxal endite of Mx1 are present, and the proximal 2 setae are curved proximally, a synapomorphy for Byrathis. The architecture of the exopod of A2 is unique. Nota: Synapomorphy is the common possession of a derived (apomorhic = derived from and differing from an ancestral condition) homologous character.
