Rythabis heptneri  Markhaseva & Ferrari, 2005   (F)
Ref.:
Markhaseva & Ferrari, 2005 a (p.149, Descr.F, figs.F, Rem.)
Species Rythabis heptneri - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : E.L. Markhaseva & F.D. Ferrari in Invert. Zool., 2005, 2 (2). [p.150, Fig.24].
Female from (from Kona Island, Hawai): A, habitus (lateral); B, posterior prosome and urosome (lateral, right side); C, urosome (dorsal); D, genital complex (lateral, left side); E, idem (ventral); F, forehead (lateral); G, P5 (posterior).
Scale bars: 0.1 mm.

Nota : A1 broken. Prosome 3.5 times longer than urosome (excluding caudal rami ). Cephalosome and pediger segment 1 separate, 4th and 5th separate. Posterior corners of prosome rounded laterally. Genital complex narrowing slightly at midlength ; asymmetrical with bump on right slightly more pronounced that bump on left. Rostrum without filaments. P5 3-segmented, distal segment (exopod) with a long medial, 1 short lateral and 1 short subterminal setae, and 1 terminal attenuation.

Species Rythabis heptneri - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : E.L. Markhaseva & F.D. Ferrari in Invert. Zool., 2005, 2 (2). [p.151, Fig.25].
Female: forehead (ventral); B, A2 (protopod and endopod); C, A2 (exopod: 4 proximal segments); D, Md (gnathobase; posterior); E, Md (mandibular palp); F, Mx1; G, Mx2; H, Mxp (syncoxa); I, P1 (anterior).
Scale bars: 0.1 mm.

Nota : A2 : coxa with 1 seta ; basis with 2 setae ; endopod 2-segmented, proximal segment with 1 seta, setae missing from distal segment ; Only 4 segments retained on exopod, setae lost. Md : gnathobase with 6 teeth and 1 seta ; endopod 2-segmented, proximal segment with 2 setae, distal with 9 setae ; exopod with 1, 1, 1, 2 setae. Mx1 : praecoxal endite with 10 terminal and 4 posterior setae ; coxal endite with 4 setae, coxal epipodite with 9 setae ; proximal basal endite with 4 setae, distal basal endite fused to endopod, setae of distal basal endite indistinguishable from those of endopod, 11 setae total ; exopod with 4 setae. Mx2 : proximal praecoxal endite with 4 setae, distal with 3 setae, 1 recurved ; proximal and distal coxal endite with 3 setae, 1 recurved on each endite ; proximal basal endite with 4 setae, 1 thick, 1 worm-like ; distal basal endite + ramus with 4 worm-like and 4 brush-like (2 short, thick brush-like and 2 longer, thin brush-like) setae.Mxp : setae on praecoxal endites of syncoxa not well-separated, with 1 (worm-like seta), 2 (1 worm-like seta), 2 (1 worm-like seta) ; coxal endite with 3 setae ; basis and endopod lost. P1 : coxa without seta ; basis with medial seta ; exopod 3-segmented ; endopod 1-segmented with 3 medial and 2 terminal setae ; Von Vaupel Klein’s organ with basal seta curved around anterior face of endopod ; endopod without anterior knob or denticles.

Distribution map of Rythabis heptneri by geographical zones
Loc:
Pacif. tropical (Hawai: near Kona)
N: 1
Lg.:
(954) F: 1,00 (excluding caudal ramus)
Rem.: depth: 600 m.
For Markhaseva & Ferrari (2005, p.152) this species differs from R. atlantica and R. schulzi as follows : distal basal endite + ramus of Mx2 with 4 worm-like and 4 brush-like setae (6 worm-like setae and 2 brush-like setae in R. atlantica and R. schulzi ; Mx1 with 11 setae on basis + endopod (17 in R. atlantica, 13 in R. schulzi) ; basis of Mx1 fused to endopod (separate in R. atlantica ; and basal seta of P1 strongly curved around anterior face of endopod (curved over the anterior knob on endopod of R. atlantica.
